Analysis of Radio Specifications in an Adaptive Enhanced Range Dual-Mode Communication System for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)

摘要
This paper presents and analyzes a low-cost adaptive dual-mode communication system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The system includes both a high data-rate mode for transmitting in applications like real-time video streaming, and a high range mode for extending the distance the UAVs can travel while still being connected with the ground station. In addition, an improved antenna pattern is analysed to extend the communication range beyond what is achieved by existing networks. Moreover, the average power consumption of the two mode system is optimized by selecting the lower-power mode whenever high data-rates are not needed, eliminating any unnecessary wasted power.
