Small Signal Stability Analysis of PMSG-based WECS equipped with Resistive type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

It is well known that these days advancements in the renewable energy sector are increasing day by day to replace conventional sources. So one of the prominent renewable energy sources is the wind energy conversion system. PMSG in WECS is gaining more popularity due to its various advantages. In this paper, the small signal modeling of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) driven wind energy conversion system (WECS) is being done while incorporating a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL). Using SFCL is one of the methods for enhancing fault ride-through capability. Thus, here a resistive type Superconducting fault current limiter RSFCL is used and its effectiveness is analyzed by performing small signal stability analysis which helps in determining the system's stability when FCL is used and thus gives a prior idea of how effective can be the technique.
