Design of a Low-Voltage Miniaturized Broadband TWT

摘要
The key design technology of a low-voltage miniaturized broadband traveling wave tube (TWT) is proposed in this paper, and the simulation and experimental test are carried out. The key points of this TWT are the electron gun with low cathode voltage, the periodic permanent magnet (PPM) matched with the beam at the channel and a slow-wave structure (SWS) with pitch of negative-positive-negative hopping. The output power has a significant improvement, and the flow performance of TWT is obviously improved. The TWT sample operates at 6--18GHz, with a working voltage of 2300V. Output power is more than 30W (more than 40W at 6-- 12GHz). Total power consumption is less than 140W, and second harmonic ratio is-10.2dBc. The TWT has overall dimensions of 25mm wide by 135mm long by 16mm tall and weighs less than 135g.
