Research and Development of a Coconut Meat Extraction System

The optimization of coconut meat extraction is a timely venture because the debate about the pros and cons of coconut has recently gravitated to a positive for coconut consumption. Coconut was initially claimed to have the highest percentage of saturated fat, but of late doctors have started using the HDL: LDL as a better health indicator. The conventional method of coconut meat extraction is very labor intensive and dangerous because the coconut shell is slippery and hard and takes quite a lot of muscular strength to pry it open. This work utilizes a 13050 RPM wall cutter which goes through the coconut like a knife going through soft butter. But of course, such a machine is dangerous so setups must be built around it to make it safe for the operator. The output of such a cutting creates lots of coconut dust and water which will consume lots of water to clean, therefore the setup was redesigned to enable the cutting near fruitful vegetation, thereby providing fertilizer. Easy replication of the systems was a focus of the design especially in regions where coconut grows. Another setup was built to enable easier extraction of the coconut meat from the half shells.
