Effect of Rain Attenuation on the Availability of LEO Satellite Communication System

摘要
The Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communication system has become an important trend of next-generation communication services. As it is known, rain attenuation affects the communication between satellite and ground, and it is significant to evaluate the effect of rain attenuation on the availability of the LEO satellite communication system. In this paper, a link availability evaluation model is built with the consideration of rain attenuation for the LEO satellite communication system. On this basis, a service availability evaluation algorithm is proposed using Monte Carlo method. Finally, a case is used to find the effect of rain attenuation on the service availability of the LEO satellite communication system.
