A Novel Dual-mode Spoof Surface Plasmon Polariton Meta-coupler Using Bi-layer Anisotropic Huygens’ Metasurface

Based on the bi-layer anisotropic Huygens’ metasurface (AHM) and anisotropic spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) propagation meta-atom, a novel ultra-compact dual-mode SSPP meta-coupler is proposed. The AHM is designed to satisfy the composite phase distributions via simultaneously inducing the orthogonal electric and magnetic currents to excite the Huygens’ resonance, and the anisotropic SSPP propagation meta-atom is adopted to match the dual-mode SSPP momentum. This SSPP meta-coupler can convert the incident y- and x-polarized waves into transverse electric (TE)-mode SSPPs and transverse magnetic (TM)-mode SSPPs with opposite directions. The dual-mode coupler via bi-layer AHMs may pave the way for high-speed and broadband routing information development.
