Analysis of PEC Objects in Half Space by an HODG Method

In this paper, we analyzed the scattering of electromagnetic fields from perfectly conducting (PEC) objects in a half space using a high-order discontinuous Galerkin (HODG) method. Compared with the traditional conformal method with the half-space Green’s function, nonconformal mesh is allowed and the current continuity is guaranteed by properly designed interior penalty terms in the discontinuous Galerkin. In addition, the high-order hierarchical vector (HOHV) basis function, which is able to be defined in a large curve, is further applied to reduce the unknowns and improve the overall modeling precision. Through several numerical results, we showed the accuracy and efficiency of the HODG method.
