A Broadband Back-Cavity Antenna for Wi-Fi 6/6E Application

A Broadband and high gain antenna with 180° horizontal plane radiation for Wi-Fi 6/6E application is presented in this paper. The back-cavity antenna (BCA) is composed of FR-4 dielectric substrate and metal cavity with the apertures partially sealed in different position. There is a dumbbell-shaped rectangular hole in the metallic layer to adjust resonance. The antenna operates in different modes at low frequency and high frequency, thereby achieving broadband. The simulation results shows that the proposed BCA completely covers the bandwidth of Wi-Fi 6/6E. At 5.1 GHz-7.3 GHz, the simulated S 11 of the antenna is lower than -6 dB, the gain is higher than 6 dBi, and the total efficiency is greater than 75%. The proposed antenna has a great prospect in Wi-Fi 6/6E application.
