Cascaded Drive Amplifier with Current Reuse Technique from 8 to 18 GHz

This paper presents a three-stage drive amplifier (DA) operating from 8 GHz to 18 GHz. This three-stage DA constructed as stack amplifier configurations to reduce power consumption. The low-pass/band-pass matching networks and the T-type input/output matching network are designed to improve the gain flatness of the presented DA and the wideband impedance matching in the frequency range from 8 GHz to 18 GHz. The measurement results show that the gain of the drive amplifier is of 12.7 Db, with output power of 7.3dBm and a gain flatness of ±0.5 dB over the frequency range from 8 GHz to 18 GHz. The area of the proposed DA is 2470µm × 1180µm.
