Waveguide Taper Profile Optimization for Compact On-chip Adiabatic Devices

We review our waveguide taper profile optimization method for adiabatic integrated optical devices. We demonstrate a length reduction of fiber-to-chip light couplers, power splitters, and mode converters by factors ranging from 2 to 5 compared to their linear counterparts while achieving low losses and large bandwidth.
