Reliability Analysis and Comparison of Lithium Battery System Based on Passive and Active Equalization

As a major energy source, the reliability of lithium battery system is of vital importance to the longtime operation and economic benefits of electrical equipment. Both as a method to achieve battery inconformity and to avoid early discard, there is lack of study of reliability regarding active equalization and passive equalization. This paper introduces the typical circuits of active equalization and passive equalization, and then gives the loss and lifetime analysis of electronic components. Then the lifetime of electronic components is used to obtain the weibull distribution of electronic components. Finally, weibull distribution and reliability block diagram is used to evaluate the reliability of active equalization compared to passive equalization.
