Design and implementation of a novel campus face recognition access control system based on cloud-edge collaboration

In recent years, face recognition access control has become a prerequisite for campus management. Compared with the traditional IC card mode, the face recognition access control system uses human biometrics as an essential reference for recognition verification, which greatly improves security. However, the use of face recognition and offline terminals such as access control systems leads to parallel pressure and excessive latency on the server. This behavior causes a disproportionate number of permissions when verifying permission information and information is sent out, far from the actual usage requirements. In this paper, we propose a novel cloud-edge collaborative face recognition access control method, which specifically addresses the scenario of schools with high real-time requirements for access control systems. It is worth mentioning that we proposed the online verification priority strategy has solved the excessive delay of verification when updating the bulk permission information. In addition, the server processing lightweight strategy in the system to alleviate the excessive parallel pressure on the server side.
