摘要
The most common reason for vehicular accidents is due to undetected potholes and road humps. Good roads contribute significantly to the prosperity of our nation. The importance of road infrastructure society is very essential. To maintain a good quality road surface, it should be inspected continually and to be repaired whenever it is necessary. In the method we've described, we employ an ultrasonic sensor to locate potholes and speed bumps on the road and measure the depth and height of each, accordingly. This provides a prototype of an IoT based potholes and humps detection system that can be integrated with the vehicle. Additionally, using a GPS receiver, geographic coordinates of discovered potholes and humps are recorded. This sensed data provides timely information to the government maintenance authorities via SMS using GSM module so that necessary steps can be taken for safety of drivers. This reduces the expenditure spent on detecting the potholes and humps locations and can be spend on repairing them. This also reduces risk of life and vehicular damages.
