Subspace tracking: a novel method for phase noise characterization of frequency combs

Subspace tracking, in combination with multi-heterodyne coherent detection, is proposed for independent phase noise sources identification, separation and measurement. The method is experimentally demonstrated for phase noise characterization of EO and FM-mode-locked optical frequency combs.
