Analysis of axle load spectrum of highway trucks in Shandong Province

The axle load spectrum offers a more complete and precise description of traffic load, which is a key influencing factor in asphalt pavement design and management. The Rongwu Highway’s network toll collection system was employed in this study to gather vehicle data for the road stretch surrounding Dongying Toll Station in Shandong Province. In order to analyze the axle load spectrum of six different types of trucks with single-axle and single-tire, single-axle and double-tire, double-axle and triple-axle, we counted the overload vehicles, summarized and grouped the truck type classification, axle type classification, and axle group distribution. According to the conclusions, the trucks of type 3 make up the largest portion of the research area, accounting for half and more. All types of trucks’ single-axle and single-tire axle weight is primarily concentrated in below 100kN, single-axle and double-tire axle weight are likewise the same. The weight of the double-axle is mostly distributed between 18kN and 108kN. The weight of the triple-axle is less than 150kN. All types of trucks’ axle load spectra exhibit blatant double-peak characteristics in this particular axle group. The highway network toll system can be used to its full potential by combining the observed axle load spectrum with traffic control and real-world circumstances. This gives engineers maintenance and future highway service life forecast the support they need.
