Terahertz Waveguide Filter Based on Multilayer Artificial Microstructure

In this paper, we propose a waveguide-loaded multi-chips bandpass filter. In this design, four chips are inserted into the rectangular height-reducing waveguide. Different chips have different responses to terahertz waves, that is, different resonant frequencies. They are superimposed with each other to form the out-of-band suppression part of the band-pass filter. Because its four chips are integrated into the waveguide, external interference can be reduced and the device size can be reduced. The filter has a passband insertion loss of about 2 dB at 217.2-225 GHz and an insertion loss of about 60 dB at 202 GHz, with maximum isolation of 58.5 dB. Due to the advantages of small size, high isolation degree, this design has a broad application prospect in the field of terahertz communication.
