Promotion of Nitrate Concentration in Plasma Activated Water by Introducing Ultrasonic Treatment

Abstract
As one of the applications of non-thermal plasma, plasma activated water (PAW) has compensated for the restriction of plasma in practical application. However, the restricted yield of PAW also limits its application. In this work, a novel method that the ultrasonic treatment was introduced into the preparations of PAW was reported to assist promoting the concentrations of reactive particles in PAW. Nitrate was chosen as the research target of reactive particles in this work, and ultrasound of 28 kHz and 46 W was introduced into pin-to-plate PAW reactor driven by self-made pulsed plasma source. In addition, the concentrations of nitrite, the values of electrical conductivity, and the characteristics of electrical process were compared. The result showed that ultrasonic treatment could significantly promote the concentrations of NO 3 - within a relatively short period of PAW preparations (p < 0.1), and the increase could reach 28.5 %, specifically. The application of ultrasound in PAW preparations within a short period of treatment to promote the concentrations of reactive particles has a certain practical value.
