Thermal, Electromagnetic and Structural Performance Evaluation of CFETR Toroidal Field Superconducting Magnet

As a critical component of Chinese Fusion Engineering Testing Reactor (CFETR), the structural performance of TF magnet is very important. This paper mainly analyzes the electromagnetic, structural and thermal hydraulic characteristics of TF magnet. Firstly, the electromagnetic analysis was conducted to obtain the magnetic field intensity and distribution., the the maximum magnetic field of the TF magnet is 14.5T. Secondly., through electromagnetic-structure coupling analysis., the maximum stress of TF magnet is 872MPa., which is located at the front area of inboard leg in TF coil case (TFCC). the shear stress of insulation is 61.2MPa. In addition., a thermal hydraulic analysis is performed to study the cooling performance of TF conductor. The result shows that the layout of cooling pipe should be optimized. Finally, the stability analysis of superconductors reveals that the temperature margin of TF coil is enough, but the minimum energy margin of strands is only 14 mJ/cc. All of the analysis shows that the stress intensity of TF magnet meets design criteria. The thermal hydraulic characteristics of TF inboard and the stability margin of TF conductor should be improved. These analyses provide important references for the design of CFETR TF magnet.
