Parameter-Free Predictive Current Control for Open-Winding Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Machine Drives

Linear motion is quite common in industry and linear electric machines play an important role in maglev systems. However, due to the variable magnetic state of maglev motors, strong parameter uncertainties may occur, which can result in a performance degradation for model predictive control. This paper introduces a parameter-free approach to the predictive current control applied to open-winding permanent magnet linear synchronous machine drives. The proposed method predicts the future currents with the help of well-constructed current gradients that are obtained in a parameter-free manner. As a result, no machine parameters are involved and the system robustness against parameter uncertainties is improved. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
