Design, Modeling and Analysis of 2×2 Microstrp Patch Antenna Array System for 5G Applications

This study presents the design, mathematical modeling, and analysis of a 2×2 microstrip patch antenna array (MSPA) for 5G applications operating at 5.3 GHz. The proposed array employs a small strip antenna module with two vertical slots, and is based on phased array antenna systems (PAAS), which are widely used in both defense radar and commercial applications. The microstrip patch antenna is designed using Ansys HFSS simulation tool, and features slot arrays for linear polarization parallel and perpendicular to the axis. The antenna is fed through transverse slots in the wide wall of the circular waveguide and fed through longitudinal slots in the small wall of the rectangular waveguide. The single MSPA achieves a maximum gain of 6.14 dB at 5.3 GHz, while the 2×2 array structure produces a gain of 7.713 dB at the same frequency. The results demonstrate the potential for such antennas in 5G technology and devices.
