Optimal Scheduling of Integrated Electricity-Gas Systems Considering Carbon Trading and Uncertain Pipeline Parameters

Different energy sectors are coupled more tightly in modern energy systems. To improve the overall security and economic efficiency, it is necessary to coordinate the operation of the integrated electricity-gas system (IEGS) holistically. The inherent uncertainty of parameters in natural gas pipelines has an impact on the quality and security of IEGS operation; however, it is not addressed in the current work on IEGS scheduling. To address this problem, we formulate a two-stage robust scheduling model for an IEGS considering carbon trading and the uncertainty of pipeline parameters. The big-M method is used to transform the optimization problem with bilinear terms into an equivalent adaptive linear robust optimization problem. Case studies are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving the IEGS's ability to hedge parameter uncertainty.
