A 0.65-THz Traveling Wave Tube Based on Staggered Double L-shaped Vane SWS

A staggered double L-shaped vane slow-wave-structure (SDLV-SWS), which is suitable for the sheet electron beam with small aspect ratio and is beneficial to improve the interaction of electron in the edge region of the beam, is proposed for 0.65-THz traveling wave tubes (TWTs). By using particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations, the SDLV-SWS shows the output power of 1.8 W with the operating voltage of 21.9 kV, current of 10.6 mA, and the corresponding gain is 35.2 dB. Besides, the output power is over than 1 W in the frequency range of 646–650 GHz, and the 3dB-bandwidth is more than 5 GHz.
