Abstract
•Spherical and plate-shaped TiO2@NC were prepared by carbonizing Ti-MOFs.•TiO2@NC nanospheres exhibited a specific surface area of 325 m2/g.•TiO2@NC nanospheres exhibited a maximum adsorption capacity of 1187 mg/g.•The boosted adsorption was mainly due to hydrogen bonding and π–π interactions.
