Development of Highly Porous Alkaline Cements from Industrial Waste for Thermal Insulation of Building Envelops

•Combination of several industrial by-products produced highly porous alkaline cements, suitable for thermal applications.•The mechanical properties of these sustainable pastes is also adequate for applications such as façade panels.•The incorporation of damping materials, also originated from industrial disposal, increased porosity.•The most performing paste was classified as ‘T1′, regarding their thermal performance.•Significant margin for development, which can increase effectiveness.
