A family of binary sequences derived from punctured simplex codes

In this paper we examine the relationship between the correlation properties of Pseudo-Noise sequences and the weight distribution of punctured simplex codes. To facilitate analysis we introduce the concept of “complementary” code and use it to minimize partial period autocorrelation. The main objective is to identify a family of sequences with enhanced correlation performance, by leveraging the theory of error correcting codes. The partial period autocorrelation properties of these sequences make them suitable for ranging and synchronizations application.
