摘要

•Sequential bromination, hydroxylation & decarboxylation of fatty acids were developed.•The sequential chemistry was used to stepwise shorten long chain saturated fatty acids.•GC/C/IRMS-based PSIA-13C for saturated long chain fatty acids is presented.•The odd-over-even 13C enrichment pattern agrees with that obtained with 13C-NMR.
