摘要
The study of export competitiveness of Thailand’s oil palm products by comparison among the world’s biggest producing countries; Indonesia, Malaysia, Columbia, and Nigeria by using Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and to study market position by using Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The study reveals that in 2018 regarding oil palm products (No. 1511) and crude palm oil product (No. 151110) Columbia had a higher comparative advantage than Thailand. For the refined palm oil product (No. 151190) in Indonesia and Malaysia had comparative advantages, while Columbia and Nigeria had no comparative advantage as same as Thailand. The results of the BCG Matrix on oil palm products reveal that Indonesia’s market position was at CASH COW while Malaysia, Thailand, and Columbia were at DOG. Nigeria’s market position was a QUESTION MARK. The study has suggested that to boost up the export competitiveness of oil palm products as well as the market position in Thailand, several actions should be taken: product development, reduction of production cost and increasing of products’ value. Crude palm oil product is the most attractive and has a bright future for product development including having the capacity to gain market share in European countries.
