Energy Storage

Energy storage is the driving force of sustainable development of industry and has been so since the first industrial revolution. Since then, there have been various developments on the energy storage methods and related energy conversion technologies. This article is mainly focused on energy storage technologies associated with superconductivity. Within this context, an overview of energy storage technologies is provided first. Subsequently, the emerging technologies are discussed, considering particularly superconducting magnetic energy storage and superconducting flywheel energy storage systems.
