Graves’ disease

Thyroid scintigraphy allows characterization of molecular and functional aspects of different thyroid diseases and it is integral to clinical management of hyperthyroid conditions. We summarize the essential information for the diagnosis and management of toxic diffuse goiter/Graves’ disease, with emphasis on thyroid imaging and quantification of thyroid function by radioactive iodine uptake testing (RAIU) and 131 I therapy administration for definitive treatment of hyperthyroidism.
