Channel coding

Since entering the era of digital communication, channel coding has been the most fundamental technology in the evolution of communication systems. The huge improvement in system performance, reliability, and capacity of each generation of wireless communication system is inseparable from the constant enhancement of channel coding schemes. In the 4G system, in order to meet the performance requirements under different block sizes and code rates, the control channel adopts Reed–Muller code and tail-bit convolutional code, while the data channel adopts Turbo code. For both data and control information, NR puts forward higher requirements in terms of robustness, performance, complexity, and reliability than the 4G system. Therefore new channel coding schemes are discussed and specified for different channels in NR, as will be introduced in this chapter.
