摘要
Body washes are a relatively addition to the collection of personal cleansing products available in the market. These products present unique formulation challenges and benefit opportunities compared to traditional bar cleanser forms. Moisturizing body washes are intended to not only cleanse skin but also provide dry skin improvement. Surfactants are the workhorse ingredient in any personal cleansing product. Some body washes contain ingredients that are intended to provide skin effects beyond simple cleansing. The consumer research identified a need for personal cleansing products that deliver different levels of moisturization and in-use aesthetics to meet consumer expectations. Some personal cleansers are available in versions that are ostensibly designed to address different skin needs, but such products often involve relatively minor formulation changes and have similar in-use performance. The chapter presents e two examples of conditions involving dry skin that might derive a particular benefit from a moisturizing body wash: ashy skin, and atopic dermatitis.
