摘要
In this conclusion, I have chosen images of scribble—drawn from nature and culture-meets-nature- to help materialise a metaphor, like those of refraction throughout the book. Refraction doesn’t happen to light, it is all there is to light, all there is to both its appearance and its so-called reality. It is a model of movement, like that of time and scribble itself. The space of scribble is necessarily metaphoric—the transference of something to some other thing. Through a set of key metaphors: that of membrane, the scribble gum: ‘as if’, arrhythmia, flux and synaesthesia, I return to my assumptions about scribble and some of its beautiful complexity presented across a number of disciplines, makers and practices, operating beyond developmental, unconscious, kinaesthetic, haptic, art historical and technological first impressions or limits. I attempt to summarise the findings of each chapter, acknowledging that works of art ‘light up a space’; a waveform of light, a fractal, an pattern that continually changes. Scribble is just such a pattern; an untimely art.
