Enacting Semiotics Research—A 12-Step Process

This chapter is a culmination and delivers a 12-step semiotics approach to research based on distinctive semiotic concepts and their relationships and how, at an integrating level, the personal, social and material worlds relate through sociation, embodiment and sociomateriality. We argue here that research is more a craft than an art or science, though it must include those components. With this in mind, the astute researcher will use this chapter as guidelines and a set of rich resources, structured in a way that can be useful, but adaptable to the degree of craft, art or science appropriate to the research programme under way.
