摘要
Anthrophony (human-generated sound) is a stressor of emerging concern in aquatic habitats worldwide. This sound stems from an array of commercial and recreational activities and can travel great distances and transform underwater soundscapes. Anthrophony is highly variable and spans a wide range of frequencies, overlapping with the hearing and vocalization ranges of fishes. Not only does this impact species that rely on sound for communication, it can cause physiological and behavioral effects. Further research is required to understand the population and ecosystem level effects of anthrophony on fishes to inform effective management and mitigation of this stressor.
