The Learning Grid

The notion of Grid computing has arisen with the desire to use computational, communication, and content resources on the internet efficiently and effectively in solving scientific problems. This chapter explores the use of the GRID for learning - thus the term Learning GRID. The workshop goal is to formulate a plan for using Grid technologies in the establishment of a Learning Grid. In particular, a desired outcome will be a determination of priorities for Grid development and areas of research requiring support in order to make the Grid an effective learning tool. The GRID has been primarily thought of as a resource for computational scientists.
