A Systematic Literature Review of Management and Technological Approaches Integration with Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0 (I4.0) presents a new era of production and process management, and in order for companies to take advantage of the benefits offered by this technological advancement, understanding how it can influence or be influenced by management approaches is a point of study. For this reason, this investigation aimed to analyze production and quality management approaches in order to identify synergies as well as disagreements with current requirements imposed by Industry 4.0. Therefore, this article presents a systematic literature review with article selection based on the PRISMA methodology, resulting in the analysis of 45 studies. The main conclusions indicate that agile management presents the highest synergy with Industry 4.0, followed by collaborative, real-time, and lean management, respectively. The requirement of virtualization presented synergy classified as very high for all approaches, while ecodesign was the only one classified as low synergy with management approaches. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of a joint strategy for integrated management and technological approaches to take advantage of the benefits of Industry 4.0. This study is a base to be taken into account, and being used in industrial practice, in the context of iFixturing Project.
