摘要
A 23-year-old male presented with bilateral anterior and posterior subcapsular star-shaped opacities in both eyes (BE) [Fig. 1a and b]. A history of electrical injury was elicited. The remaining ocular examination and B-scan were unremarkable [Fig. 1c]. External examination revealed scarring on the scalp, signifying the entry wound [Fig. 1d]. The patient underwent uneventful phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in BE sequentially, attaining a best correct visual acuity of 6/6 in BE.Figure 1: (a and b) Slit-lamp photographs taken using diffuse and retro-illumination. Star-shaped anterior and posterior subcapsular opacities are seen. (c) Axial B-scan showing normal posterior segment. (d) Clinical photograph showing alopecia along with scarring over the scalp as a sequela to electrical burnSparing of other intraocular structures with exclusive involvement of crystalline lens bilaterally and lack of an exit wound makes this case eccentric.[1] It also encourages surgery in such cases. In the form the patient (s) has/have given his/her/their consent for his/her/their images and other clinical information to be reported in the journal.
