Synthesis and Application of Fluorescent Dye BMVA-12C in Imaging of Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is a lethal disease because of its high death rate. Monitoring lung cancer progression is important for prognosis and treatment. Early detection combined with treatment can reduce the death rate of lung cancer. In this study, we synthesized a fluorophore, 2,7-bis(4-methyl vinyl pyridinium)-9-(aminododecane)acridine (BMVA-12C), to light up lung cancer cell. BMVA-12C was prepared with acridine as a core scaffold conjugating two vinylpyridiniums and a flexible carbon chain. After characterizing the physicochemical properties of BMVA-12C, the solvent effect, Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and intracellular localization were achieved, and it was found that BMVA-12C showed yellow in lysosomes of A549 lung cancer cells. Therefore, BMVA-12C can be a promising probe for imaging lung cell lines.
