Abstract
The treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) has improved over the last 20 years, leading to prolonged survival rates and improved outcomes. However, most metastatic CRCs are not curable and a further improvement of treatment with molecular targeted therapy is needed. Despite the many clinical trials with molecular targeted inhibitors and antibodies, only anti-EGFR, anti-HER2, and anti-angiogenesis agents have proved to be sufficiently effective and approved for advanced CRC in Japan. It is known that CRC is heterogeneous in terms of gene mutations or copy number alterations.
