•Novel Mag-HTP heterogeneous Fenton catalyst was synthesized.•The Kapp of BPA degradation by Mag-HTP is ∼20 times higher than that by Mag.•The Mag-HTP system can integrate multiple mechanisms in the Fenton reaction.•The Mag-HTP catalyst is low-cost, highly efficient, and easy for application.
