Energy Devices, Hemostatic Agents, and Optical Magnification in Thyroid Surgery

Recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, hypocalcemia and bleeding are the most common and severe complications in thyroid surgery. However, the growing use of energy devices, hemostatic agents and optical magnification techniques allows for a significant reduction of such complications, while also improving the quality of the intra- and postoperative course and reducing surgical times.
