摘要
: Obesity is a globally pandemic related to chronic diseases and mortality, although very important the accurate evaluation of body composition on this population is impaired by methodological difficulties. PURPOSE: Evaluate the agreement between three bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) devices, two-dimensional (2D) photo, and DXA for estimating body fat percent (BF%) in obese adults. METHODS: A total of 226 sedentary and physically active Brazilian adults, aged between 18 and 65 years with BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 were selected. Volunteers were evaluated by the 2D-photo method (Shaped, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), bioimpedance scales of the inBody-270 (InBody, Seoul, Korea), Omron HBF-514 (Omron, Kyoto, Japan), MaltronBF900 (Maltron, Essex, England) models and DXA (GE, Madison, USA) at an interval of 1 minute between each method. Bland-Altman (BA) was used to evaluate and identify the limits of agreement and BIAS between 2D-photo and BIA devices with DXA. RESULTS: The BIAS value of the % error between methods and DXA ranged from -0.12 (Omron) to -3.18 (inBody-270). The concordance between each method with CCC was 0.99; 0.94; 0.92 and 0.88 for the Shaped, inBody-270, Omron and Maltron methods, respectively. The InBody, and Maltron methods presented significant difference with DXA (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Shaped presented the higher concordance with small bias when compared to DXA for estimating BF% and could be a good method to evaluate obese individuals.Figure 1.: Bland-Altman plots for the agreement analysis.
