Clinical Impact of the Implementation of In-Hospital On-Call in the Management of Upper Digestive Bleeding

Aims The timing of gastroscopy execution in UGB is still controversial; the main scientific societies recommend its performance in the first 24 hours. The implementation of an in-hospital gastroenterology shift could mean an optimization of the time until endoscopy, meaning a greater number of endoscopic treatments, thus leading to a reduction in hospital stay and/or mortality. Our purpose is the analysis of the clinical impact of the implementation of a in-hospital on-call GI system in the management of UGB [1] [2] [3] [4] ([Fig. 1]).
