New Insight in Causal Pathways Following Subcortical Stroke

The relationship between structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC) is a major focus of systems neuroscience. It is well recognized that structural networks constrain functional networks; however, much remains unknown about the interactive dynamics of functional and SC.1 As experimental manipulation of structural connectome in humans is not practical, a focal brain lesion, such as a stroke, provides a naturally occurring perturbation of structural connectome to study the complex dynamics between structural and FC.1
