Comparative Study of Enhanced Methods for Intelligent Segmentation of Brain Tissue in 3D/2D MRI Brain Images Through Multiple Thresholding

In this study, we compare two thresholding methods, OTSU and PSO_OTSU, to segment brain tumor tissue in 3D and 2D MR brain images. For a correct diagnosis and effective treatment planning, tumors must be segmented accurately. Our suggested methods use repeated thresholding to efficiently distinguish between tumor tissue and normal brain tissue. In terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, our study shows that the PSO_OTSU methodology performs better than the OTSU and DPSO methods, with segmentation findings that are up to 99.6% correct. These findings show the PSO_OTSU technique's potential for facilitating accurate and reliable brain tumor diagnosis, which has important ramifications for the medical imaging community. These results demonstrate the potential of these methods to help medical practitioners in the detection and management of brain tumors.
