Interturn Short-Circuit Fault Diagnosis of Dual-Redundancy Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor for Aviation Application Based on Search Coil

This paper proposes an interturn short-circuit fault (ISCF) diagnosis approach of dual-redundancy permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motors (PMASynRMs) for aviation application based on search coils with novel structure. Unlike other’s tooth magnetic flux-based fault detection schemes, yoke magnetic flux is utilized for fault detection with the round search coils (SCs) wound on the yoke, which has multiple advantages such as small number of SCs, convenient installation method, more flexible design, etc. Based on the structure of SCs, an obvious fault feature in the voltage signal of the SCs is introduced, which can accurately and quickly identify the source of faults. According to the simulation results, the effectiveness of this fault diagnosis method has been confirmed.
