Automatic Generation Control of Virtual Power Plant for High-proportion Heterogeneous Distributed Photovoltaics

In the current virtual power plant (VPP) design schemes, photovoltaic (PV) generator is seen as an indispensable choice. Due to the significant differences in the unit capacity and operating characteristics of PV, the coordination of start-stop PV units and continuously adjustable PV units poses a noteworthy challenge in VPP with high-level PV penetration. To solve the problem, this paper presents an automatic generation control (AGC) instruction allocation algorithm using mixed integer liner programming (MILP) with a special inverter controller of PV. Based on the simulation cases, this algorithm can facilitate effective coordination between start-stop PV units and continuously adjustable PV units within VPP.
