Mode Control for Octagonal Microcavity Lasers

摘要
A compact, controllable, and bistable deformed octagonal microcavity laser is experimentally demonstrated. A counterclockwise bistable hysteresis loop is observed with the continuous injection current from 15 to 32 mA at 288 K. And, the direct modulation bandwidth of the laser is increased from 12 GHz in the low state to 16 GHz in the high state through the photon-photon resonance (PPR) effect.
