Range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs), combining attributes of hybrid and pure electric models, present a promising solution to address challenges associated with the widespread adoption of pure electric vehicles. These challenges include high costs, limited energy density, long charging times, and range anxiety. REEVs hold significant potential for diverse applications. However, current research on REEVs predominantly focuses on parameter optimization and energy management strategies, overlooking the critical aspect of the vehicle's fault tolerance and resilience in applications such as long-distance cargo transportation, military operations, and medical emergency services. This paper introduces a modular-based design for a multi-module range-extended electric vehicle and its faulttolerant operational control strategy, ensuring seamless vehicle operation and mission completion in demanding scenarios.
