Does Chronic Nitrogen Deposition Have Effects on Grass Physiology of Natural Habitats?

•16 species of grasses were found in the savanna studied area; almost all C4 species.•Nitrogen supplementation was used to simulate anthropic nitrogen deposition.•Photosynthetic pigments in C3 and C4 species were differently affected.•Nitrogen supplementation was not enough to affect the grass's photosynthetic yield.•N supplementation has not yet severely changed the grass community in the area.
